Toledo - The UT women's soccer program were looking for the break they needed today in an early afternoon showdown with Central Michigan - a lot was at stake! The Rockets needed a win or draw to gain the one point they needed to get to Sunday's MAC tournament quarterfinal and they did just that. UT drew with Central Michigan 0-0 after UT carried the majority of play with many chances just wide or great saves by Central Michigan senior goalkeeper Heather Lauefer. Columbian international Isa Echiverri saw a great opportunity get cleared off the line in the closing moments of the game to end the match in regulation, in the overtime the Rockets were very threatening with their set pieces including a pair of great corners taken by Perrysburg native Geri Siudzinski and the Chippewa's were able to get the ball clear out of the lurking Rocket attackers. Rockets head coach Brad Evans was pleased by the performance and them getting back into the MAC tournament - "We had about 8 years there where we were in the semifinal or final and last year not making it really hurt, but I am very pleased for the opportunity to play Sunday and a new season will start for us right now. We are pleased with the progress of the team and just looking for that opportunity to play another game". The Rockets will play Sunday against an opponent who has not yet been announced.
